Data as Culture
The ODI’s Data as Culture art programme has engages diverse audiences with artists and works that use data as an art material.
We exhibit and commission artworks for our headquarters in London and for external galleries and venues. Our art programmes have reached hundreds of thousands of people, on and off line. We have shown works from 29 well-renowned artists, hosted four artists in residence and commissioned 10 new pieces.
Artworks have included a semi-sentient vending machine, data collection performances, photographs, networked artworks, pneumatic machines, live-coding performances and ‘stitch-hacked’ jumpers.
We intend to expand the programme to work with more artists and partners, and grow our reach as we explore more innovative ways to create with data.
